I don't actually disagree; hence my emphasis on Something Else. All I'm saying is that we're not going to get that unless it is made very clear that a Bush Deal, no strings attached, is unacceptable.

I don't think negotiation for something at least not harmful is going to be possible unless it's clear that accepting the Bush Deal will carry an enormous political cost. That's really all I'm saying.

Besides, the message needs to be kept simple so it gets through. I just don't see it as likely that we're going to get thousands or even hundreds of people to call in on Monday with a message more complex than "Hell no to no-strings buyouts for these crooks, any deal needs to include real reform and taxpayer relief, or it is torch and pitchfork time."
