Today I organized a voter registration event outside a music festival. A lot of people signed up online to volunteer, but only a quarter of them showed. Still, we had too many volunteers to cover just the festival, so I sent teams of 3-4 out to Rittenhouse Square (rich, white urban liberals) and The Gallery at Market East (middle-income African-Americans and Hispanics). Beautiful weather today, have to remember sunblock tomorrow.
I had the bright idea that a lot of New Jersey people come into Philly, so I printed out New Jersey voter registration applications (in both English and Spanish). About 10% of the people we got were Jersey.
Registered by me:
Prior running total: 43
Day 4 total: 7
Total to date: 50
Registered by my volunteers:
Total today: 52
More tomorrow.
