I think this is excellent strategic thinking:
[Republican National Committee Deputy Chairman] Frank Donatelli: Sometimes the generic brand does it for Republicans or Democrats, based on the circumstances. But this time it's a very challenging environment and it's not enough just to kind of go down the litany of issues. I think you've got to be more creative. You've got to reach out. You've got to have some really strong issues, talking points of your own.
So, you know, it's kind of like we're a basic black dress. Sometimes it works. But sometimes you've gotta, you know, you’ve gotta have the accessories to go with it. And we need accessories this time.
CBSNews.com: This is the year to accessorize for Republicans.
Frank Donatelli: First time I've ever talked about shoes in an interview like this.
That's right, the fundamentals of the Republican brand are sound. And popular. Popular and sound. Keep repeating that, at least until November.
Oh, but wait until you see the shoes and the scarf. We're going to look so hot you can't stand it. And the secret weapon is a hat that matches the shoes perfectly.

Sounds adorable.
The best protest chant I ever heard was back in the early 90s, Act Up was doing one of their "die-ins" near city hall in Philly. The cops waded in to remove them wearing medical gloves so as to not catch AIDS, or teh gay, or whatever ick gays slather on. The protesters immediately began chanting, "Your gloves don't match your shoes! Your gloves don't match your shoes!"
Also, the cops beat one guy's head in with nightsticks, so he almost died. That was less funny.
