it has to do with face geometry
humans have an affinity towards animals that have similiar face geometry to human babies.

It's not interesting. It is evolutionary necessary.
If the juvenile of the species was not "cute", we'd be chucking them out the window at 4am when they had been crying since 10pm.
Never had kids have you. It's a wonderful thing, but completely irrational.

It certainly is a handy trait to keep us from slaughtering our food before it has a chance to reproduce.
