Which brings us back to the dilemma facing some of Clinton's high-profile black supporters -- those with titles and constituencies of their own. They are feeling some kind of crazy pressure. Last Friday, about 25 of them held an hour-long conference call to discuss what one described as an effort to "pester, intimidate, question our blackness" for not supporting Obama.
(Emphasis added.) The hell? "Some kind of crazy pressure"? How up-to-date. Oh wait, this is a political article appearing in the style section. The real point of it is this:
Remember all the commentator chatter last summer: Is Barack Obama black enough?
Well, he's black enough now.
Seriously, I think someone had that thought - whatever it means - and built the rest of the article around it.
Yes, and we female Obama supporters are having our feminist credentials questioned. Can we be real women and not support the first viable presidential candidate that shares our plumbing configuration? Hmmm, there's probably an article in that...for the STYLE section, of course.
