A member of my extended family took a bullet through the leg in Iraq, doing serious damage, but he'll live. And they're sending him home. With any luck, he'll convalesce just long enough for the fucking war to end.
It is a weird feeling to be glad that someone took a bullet.
Its weird, but I can understand it. My brother received a relatively minor injury (in the cosmic scheme of things) in Iraq, and while he was recuperating, the guy filling in for him was killed, along with a fair portion of his platoon.
It sucks that the first thing I thought when I heard that was "at least it wasn't my brother who died." It really sucks.
