A lot of shit is emerging about the political firings of United States attorneys by the administration. An 18-day gap in the emails provided to Congress, for starters, as well as a 1-day gap immediately preceding the first firing. Bush petulantly claiming executive privilege in a prime-time speech, then his spokesman reveals he was never informed of the matter. In my world, you can't claim something's a privileged communication unless it's, you know, communicated.
And most importantly, we have subpoenas going out now to hale Karl Rove and Harriet Miers in front of Congress. It will not be pretty, but think of this as a life-saving surgical procedure: Congressional Democrats are now going to work to extract this - shall we say - cancer on the presidency. To act as a check on the executive branch, which the Republicans failed to do for years. To discover the truth, identify those who broke the law, if any, and ensure it doesn't happen again.
It's nice to have adults in charge again, isn't it?
I thought from the get-go that "voluntary" production would be a joke in most contexts, but especially with the oily characters involved in this. All that means is they keep the really incriminating stuff and hand over stuff that they think portrays them in best light. I can't find anything on the 18 days--what's the timing on that?

"No Comment Needed" meant "I am too lazy." Links are in the post now.

Last time, it was 18 minutes, not 18 days.
