I think that's basically right, actually, but even more so with NYTimes.com's The Caucus, which doesn't even allow links in comments. Clearly, it's not intended as a means to engage with blogs, just a way to spur interest or outrage and then allow the little people to vent in comments. I fear this is the way things will be with the Post and the Times for a couple of years, until someone with a clue realizes what kind of value they're squandering.
So the business model is trolling?
