Kate Phillips at The Caucus ("All the News That Fits the Establishment Narrative"):
There’s still some interesting fallout from the dissolution between Nevada Democrats and Fox News, after senior party officials decided to cancel an August debate amid an uproar among liberal bloggers and activists over the choice of networks.
The "interesting fallout" turns out to be these two items:
- "I didn’t take great offense at [Roger Ailes's] joke,” Obama said.... “I have been called worse.”
- [A]fter the debate was canceled, [Edwards campaign spokesman Jonathan] Prince courted online donations on behalf of Mr. Edwards, citing his support for the so-called “netroots” and denouncing Fox.
But in an interview with The Washington Post’s Dan Balz, it seems pretty clear that Mr. Edwards wasn’t even aware of the controversy between the activists, including MoveOn.org, Fox and Nevada Democrats.
Gotcha! See, the "so-called 'netroots'" don't matter, because Obama wasn't really offended and Edwards independently decided not to attend the Fox debate. They're not "roots" at all, they're fringe!
Good girl, Katie. Two pats on the head and the key to the junior executive washroom for you.
