From the local business fascist radio station:
Steve & Barry's, a national sportswear company, offered to donate Stephon Marbury's "Starbury" sneakers to each of the varsity boyâs basketball players in the Philadelphia School District.
Enter School Reform Commissioner Marty Bednarek, who said, "What about the girls?"
"They originally said they weren't going to be able to do that. So I told them then that they could keep their sneaks."
Then the negotiations began:
"They said, well, New York accepted them. I said well, what's good enough for New York may not always be good enough for Philadelphia. So we got the sneaks for the girls."
1,600 Philadelphia boys and girls basketball players got their new sneakers this month.
Mr. Bednarek just got himself another term on the commission, at least, if he desires.
Wow, promoting Title IX AND getting more free stuff for schools/kids AND slapping down NYC all at once? That's art. I think the man should run for mayor.
