A Pew study found that when asked to pick one word that described George W. Bush, 48% of respondents chose a negative word, and only 28% chose a positive word.
The most common negative word was "incompetent", followed by "idiot" and "liar."
In March of 2003 the result was nearly the opposite: 52% used a positive word and 27% used a negative word. Since then, the numbers have been slowly trending against Bush, but in the past year responses using the really harsh terms spiked dramatically.
