Big John came to town today.
Thousands of people lined up for blocks to get to see him, including this man:
The place was packed. Every vantage point from 34th to 33rd, and from Walnut to Hill Hall was full. It was very hot on Hill Field, especially at the beginning. One girl next to me was overcome; I had to get her a bottle of water and others shaded her. The crowd:
More of the crowd:
This is as close as I could get to Kerry, about 5 rows back:
He brought the mothers and wives of soldiers in Iraq to speak before him, which was very moving. And he himself gave a great speech, hitting all the high points, the best of which was "I won't be an idiot like Bush." Seriously, the guy is good on his feet. If I were Bush's debate coaches, I would be sweating.
A couple of the Scott-Robinson types from UPenn showed up, including two incredibly surly frat boys dressed up as flip-flops. I guess I would be surly, too, if (a) I was outnumbered 1,000 to 1, and (b) they were all ignoring me, no matter what kind of abuse I hurled at them.
yea, i wanted to go to that, but school =(
i've been diggin yr recent posts, keep it up! =)

Me, too. A few choice phrases and Kerry can put that clown away. Screw it up and it's four more years of the sock puppet.
