Really interesting post on Demagogue which excerpts the August issue of The American Enterprise Online entitled Real Men: They're Back.
I haven't had the chance to read the whole thing, but it looks fascinating. Americans are obsessed with toughness: being tough, looking tough, thought tough. The underlying motive is a fear that "weakness" will lead to failure to compete in the cowboy culture of America. I believe the pursuit of that obsession is the root of everything that is wrong with the country.
I can't wait to read the whole thing. I'll write more tomorrow.
