I'm going to the anti-Ashcroft protest at the Constitution Center now and will try to get pictures up from my work computer. Then I want to write about the Cult of Macho thing and about Ashcroft's new website.
Too much!
Update: The Inky has a report on what Ashcroft said. I love this lede: "Attorney General John Ashcroft went on the defensive today over the government's post-9/11 antiterrorism law, saying that without the Patriot Act "America will pay the price in lost liberty." Went on the defensive? The price of overturning an unconstitutional law is lost liberty? Hilarious. As the article notes, only about 50 protesters showed up. The group was led by Ben Waxman and was surrounded by a contingent of park rangers, city cops and Civil Affairs officers. I took a couple of pictures, but they're not really worth it. Although it was disappointing that more people didn't come, it shows how afraid Ashcroft is when (a) they announce the appearance the day before so it's not publicized and (b) they keep the public out.
