Afterparty

I have no idea how bad those pictures came out, since I'm blogging from the Treo and can't see the site.  It was a pretty kickass show, though, and everyone in the place seemed genuinely sad to see Sea Ray quit.

It's almost 4 now; time even for rockers to leave the bar.  Cab to Willliamsburg!

Sea Ray's Last Show

32204m

I'm off to NYC to see sea ray at the knitting factory mercury lounge.  After 8 years, they're quitting.  It sucks.  Should be a great, emotional show.

Update: It was.  I'm glad so many people came out.

Not That There's Much of My Youth Left

Fuck.  I used to love that station, a million years ago.  It was an oasis in the Balto-Wash corridor.

On the other hand, driving down to Florida without a CD player recently made me realize just how "alternative" was really alternative to nothing.  They have the same guy doing the station commercials all over the country, and playing the same songs.

The Official Ironmen Rally Song

Knockout punches for the freaks
Happy little babies with red cheeks
You will rock them gently out of sync

Confirmations through the wire
Spitting gas into the fire
Am I also worthy of a drink?

To dine, alone
To build a private zone
Or trigger a synapse
And free us from our traps

Teen Angst

I don't know what the world may need
But I'm sure as hell that it starts with me
And that's a wisdom
I've laughed at

I don't know what the world may want
But a good stiff drink it surely don't
So I think I'll go and fix myself a tall one

'Cause what the world needs now
Is a new kind of tension
'Cause the old one just bores me to death

'Cause what the world needs now
Is another folk singer
Like I need a hole in my head

I don't know what the world may need
But a V8 engine's a good start for me
Think I'll drive and find a place
To be surly

I don't know what the world may want
But some words of wisdom could comfort us
Think I'll leave that up to
Someone wiser

'Cause what the world needs now
Are some true words of wisdom
Like la la la la la la la la-la

'Cause what the world needs now
Is another folk singer
Like I need a hole in my head

I don't know what the world may need
And I never grasped your complexities
I'd be happy just to get
Your attention

And I don't know what the world may want
But your long sweet body lying next to mine
Could certainly
Raise my spirits

'Cause what the world needs now
Is a new Frank Sinatra
So I can get you in bed

'Cause what the world needs now
Is another folk singer
Like I need a hole in my head

Wicked Little Town

Forgive me,
For I did not know.
'Cause I was just a boy
And you were so much more

Than any god could ever plan,
More than a woman or a man.
And now I understand how much I took from you:
That, when everything starts breaking down,
You take the pieces off the ground
And show this wicked town
something beautiful and new.

You think that Luck
Has left you there.
But maybe there's nothing
up in the sky but air.

And there's no mystical design,
No cosmic lover preassigned.
There's nothing you can find
that can not be found.
'Cause with all the changes
you've been through
It seems the stranger's always you.
Alone again in some new
Wicked little town.

So when you've got no other choice
You know you can follow my voice
Through the dark turns and noise
Of this wicked little town.
Oh it's a wicked, little town.
Goodbye, wicked  little town.
