There has been some praise for Obama's choice of Hilda Solis as an ally of labor, but that praise has been nothing compared to the fury in many quarters about
Robert Gates, or Timothy Geithner, or Larry Summers, or Ken Salazar, or Mary Schapiro, or Rahm Emanuel, or Ray LaHood, or... Well, pretty much anyone else other than Eric Holder, actually, who might have to be withdrawn in the face of Republican opposition anyway. Oh, and his science team is okay. And Napolitano is pretty good, though she's been given a dreadfully disfunctional department to run.

So yeah, an invocation from a virulent homophobe, especially when the past default choice has been someone like Billy Graham, is pretty much small potatoes.
