I'd guess that for the average American, it really doesn't matter whether Joe Lieberman retains the chairmanship of the Homeland Security Committee or whether he leaves the Democratic caucus. I would also guess the average American doesn't care whether Hillary Clinton remains a Senator or takes the job of Secretary of State (or some other cabinet- or high-level post).
Not unrelatedly, these things don't matter much to me, either.
