Update on Right-Wing Philly Media and Obama
Listening to KYW 1060 AM, the station I wrote about before, I notice the Wolf Block sponsorship of the election news has stopped. The station has resumed its characteristic coverage of being moderately but consistently anti-Obama.
This is how they describe the Palin appearance:
Cheers mixed with boos as Sarah Palin was introduced to the Flyers crowd. She dropped a puck in part of a ceremony honoring an area hockey mom.
Feelings on Palin's appearance were mixed some saying they don't like the idea of mixing politics and sports. But others say politics and entertainment are mixed all the time these days.
They then go on to cite the Bruce appearance as equivalent, which you have to admit is a pretty bold lie. Shape of Earth: Opinions Differ.
Most notable was the report on the Obama rallies. They emphasized that Obama said somewhat different things at each rally. In the northeast, they said, "labor unions made a strong showing," rather than local residents. They played a clip of him saying to the West Philly crowd, "I was raised by a single mom." So, shifty union thug-backed colored guy of the street. This report was played several times but doesn't appear on the station's website, giving them a measure of deniability.
Twenty-three days left.
Update: I was wrong, Wolf Block is still sponsoring the campaign news. I could be wrong about there being a connection between the advertising and the tone of the coverage. I don't think I am wrong about that tone, however.
