Spitzer does the Larry Craig dance:
"I am disappointed that I failed to live up to the standard I set for myself," Spitzer said. "I must now dedicate some time to regain the trust of my family."
Even though Spitzer did not address the idea of resigning, talk of him vacating the post ran rampant.
What's he hoping will happen? Divine intervention?
So when he goes, who's next?
In the short term, if Spitzer resigns his lieutenant governor -- David Paterson -- would take over. Paterson, who is legally blind, would become only the second African American governor in the country (Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is the other). According to the state constitution he would serve the remainder of Spitzer's term, which lasts until 2010.

Gee, he needs to speak with his wife and sort out their personal concerns. He also should check with an attorney. You think the timing is a WEE bit funny, after Bushie wants to continue listening in on American communications? Maybe the evidence is tainted. Gosh, we have more on Spitzer's dalliance with a hooker than we ever got on Bushie's non-military career.
