Oliphant seems to be getting creaky around the brain, because he's on a misogynistic tear against Hillary:
October 30, 2007: She's a sleek, fat cat sporting a royal crown and being pampered by Bill. Message: Worthless and weak, because she is a pussy.
October 31, 2007: Now the cat is outraged after having been mauled in a fight in an alley. The crown fell off. Message: Worthless and weak, because she can't fight. Bonus: Obama is portrayed as crafty/smart, having let Edwards do the dirty work.
November 5, 2007: She's a petulant child running to Daddy Bill to come beat up mean ol' Obama and Edwards. Message: Worthless and weak, because she can't fight her own battles. Bonus: Edwards is also portrayed as a child, although slightly older, but Obama is an adult. Extra creepy bonus: Bill says "I'm a lover, not a fighter", and the little penguin character says "Come back when you're seven." Bill's a pedophile!
December 5, 2007: She's a "nasty little girl" [sic] verbally harassing the sunny (adult) Obama, who is so optimistic (or pleased at her displeasure - your pick) that it sounds to him like birds chirping.
December 17, 2007: She's a shrewish schoolmarm yelling at good-student Obama. First portrayal of her as an adult. Message: She's a shrieking harridan. Bonus: She's got a big, fat ass! *giggle*
December 26, 2007: She's giving a speech to three cows in an Iowa field, referring to them as "my fellow Iowans", and starting her own applause. Message: She's too unpopular to draw a human crowd and too stupid to know the difference. Bonus: Big fat ass, just like her fellow cows. Moo!
January 4, 2008: Arriving by bus in New Hampshire, she's cold and broke, making Bill panhandle passerby for change. Message: Loser.
January 7, 2008, the day before the New Hampshire primary. Bill in his robe at the front door, talking to reporters as she throws objects at him from behind. Message: Termagant. Loser.
January 9, 2008, the day after the New Hampshire primary. She's back to being a child, pretending to be good while kicking the (adult) Obama in the shins when no one is looking. Message: Childishly grasping and sneaky.
January 10, 2008: She blubbers as she is confronted by Bin Laden, Ahmedinejad, Kim Jong-il, Musharraf, and assorted other swarthy types. Bill says: "This is when PMS goes nuclear. Yuk yuk." Message: Worthless and weak, because she has a pussy.
And I only stop there because that's as far as the archive goes. I don't even like her, and this makes me want to vote for her.

Oliphant is a great cartoonist, and these cartoons are funny. I didn't know that political cartoonists were supposed to "make nice" when faced with a candidate they don't like.

Sure, but he's also playing on sexist stereotypes. Satire, yes; prejudice, no. Thanks.

The misogynistic attacks on Hillary are pushing me more and more into her camp -- and I can't stand the woman. The cartoons aren't satire -- they're just mean-spirited and not particularly funny.

They don't even have to be funny - just show a little wit or creativity or insight or cleverness or SOMETHING for God's sake. Those cartoons are nothing but the nasty scribblings of a little boy who has nothing to add to the dialog except name-calling and mysogynist stereotypes.
Would it be OK to criticize Obama's conciliatory rhetoric by drawing him shuffling around like a servile reject from Amos&Andy? Or illustrate his disagreements with Senator Clinton by dressing him up as a ghetto pimp slapping Hillary around like one of his ho's? Here's a thought: Let's criticize his policy towards America's poor by portraying Michelle as a 'welfare queen'! That'll be a real thigh-slapper!
Whether directed towards women or African Americans, this kind of crap isn't funny - it's ugly.
Dammit, among the top three Democrats Clinton is my least favorite, and yet I'm so pissed off at this garbage that I'm not just tempted, I'm seriously considering voting for her. Must be my PMS, right?

Must be, SV. And if I don't find these cartoons funny, it's just because I'm a woman and thus have no sense of humor. No woman does, you know.

Real women have senses of humor, Wren. Just not feminists.
