"An Older White Male with Grey Hair Standing Outside My Stall"
Idaho Republican Senator Larry Craig (and Mitt Romney's now-former Senate co-chairman) visits the restroom at the airport in Minneapolis and first lurks outside a stall where an undercover cop is sitting, then goes into the adjoining stall, and:
“At 1216 hours, Craig tapped his right foot. I recognized this as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct. Craig tapped his toes several times and moves his foot closer to my foot. I moved my foot up and down slowly. While this was occurring, the male in the stall to my right was still present. I could hear several unknown persons in the restroom that appeared to use the restroom for its intended use. The presence of others did not seem to deter Craig as he moved his right foot so that it touched the side of my left foot which was within my stall area,” the report states.
Craig then proceeded to swipe his hand under the stall divider several times, and Karsnia noted in his report that “I could ... see Craig had a gold ring on his ring finger as his hand was on my side of the stall divider.”
Karsnia then held his police identification down by the floor so that Craig could see it.
I feel sorry for the dude. Can you imagine being his age, and hanging out in public restrooms just to get some sex? And then getting busted? How undignified.
At least he went quietly and 'fessed up, right? Oops...
Craig responded, ‘No!’ I again pointed towards the exit. Craig exited the stall with his roller bags without flushing the toilet. ... Craig said he would not go. I told Craig that he was under arrest, he had to go, and that I didn’t want to make a scene. Craig then left the restroom.”
In a recorded interview after his arrest, Craig “either disagreed with me or ‘didn’t recall’ the events as they happened,” the report states.
Craig stated “that he has a wide stance when going to the bathroom and that his foot may have touched mine,” the report states. Craig also told the arresting officer that he reached down with his right hand to pick up a piece of paper that was on the floor.
“It should be noted that there was not a piece of paper on the bathroom floor, nor did Craig pick up a piece of paper,” the arresting officer said in the report.
You know what, Senator? Just don't speak. It's insulting to tell someone such a transparent lie.
Oh well, at least he didn't try to "Do you know who I am?" his way out of it, right? Oops again...
At one point during the interview, Craig handed the plainclothes sergeant who arrested him a business card that identified him as a U.S. Senator and said, “What do you think about that?” the report states.
The sergeant should have tapped the card and said, "What do I think? I think this will make a very pathetic part of a news story." But it's Minnestoa, so he's probably politer than that.
Over at Hot Air, they're rationalizing as fast as they can:
What’s the big deal? Isn’t that the kind of behavior liberals fawn over? Shouldn’t Reid call him up and say welcome to the club?

Harry Reid solicited sex in a public restroom? Huh? Swing and a miss!
AT least he wasn’t running an escort service out of his townhouse. But I guess that is only ok if you are a Democrat

Referring to the unfounded accusations against Barney Frank from 1990. Strike two!
Special disastrous bonus factoid: He’s up for re-election next year! —- Allahpundit
Nothing “disastrous” about it… get him out of there ! He’s already a Democrat anyway.

The American Conservative Union gave Craig's 2005 voting record 96 points out of 100. The liberal Americans for Democratic Action gave him 15. Considered a social conservative, Craig has long been an advocate of adoption. Senator Craig supports the Federal Marriage Amendment, voting for cloture on the amendment in both 2004 and 2006. He voted against cloture on a bill in 2002, which would have extended the federal definition hate crimes to cover sexual orientation.
Striiiiiiiiiike threeeeeeeeeeee. You're out fucked.
I feel a little less sorry for Craig now. Trolls a restroom, tells a cop stupid lies, and then tries to pull rank before being forced to plead guilty. Meanwhile, he wants to amend the Constitution to make it illegal for gay people like himself to get married, so that they will have to be as undignified and lacking self-respect as he.

The most interesting part of this whole mess is that Craig thinks it is worse to be gay then to be soliciting sex in public rest rooms.
