The Big Blue Blogger:
Cheney says that if they had the authority they already had they could've stopped 9/11, despite doing nothing to do so, and that therefore they need to illegally spy on Americans even though they can legally do so.

not ignoring all of the warnings would have helped, too.

It's amazing that I haven't heard any calls for impeachment of Bush. The republicans went after Clinton for much less. Let's cross our collective fingers.

I was like mighty republican girl for a long time. but i gotta tell you renee, et al, bush is probably doing this country a Huuge favor.
there's no way there WON'T be a democrat in '08. just on principle, i would say he's lost the election for whatever contender GOP runs. Unless, by some miracle, Powell comes to his senses!
My worry is that I think Bush would have us in Iran in a second if he didn't think he'd be run out of the white house on rails. am i alone on that one? krauthammer had a pretty good column last sunday on it.

Funny, I was so certain that there would be a democrat in the white house in '04, but look how that turned out.
Can you imagine how much greater the chances of getting a democrat into the white house would be if Cheyney was running things for a little while?

That's interesting. I've heard it said that a great detriment to this administration has been Cheney's lame duck status. If he was at all concerned with a future administration of his own, he would be prompting Bush toward more sensible action.
