Guided By Voices Quits

From the Guided By Voices Official Web Site:

After almost 20 years, assorted lineups, and countless albums, EPs, singles, triples, stolen bases, misdemeanor convictions, and broken hearts, Dayton, OH's fortunate sons are taking leave of your senses. 'Half Smiles Of The Decomposed,' to be released August 24 on Matador Records, will be the final album from Guided By Voices, one of the most acclaimed independent rock bands of all time.

It's sad. But it had to come sometime. Now maybe I can finally catch up with all the goddamn music they've already created, and Pollard can check himself into rehab.

as one philly gbv to another, i have to say that i agree completely, except on the rehab part. it's sad to exploit someone's addiction for entertainment, but pollard seems to have it together enough to function and be a productive member of society.

put another way: he's not an ex-Replacement!
